Memorial Weekend Recipe Roundup

It’s warming up here in LA and while Memorial Week will look different this year that doesn’t mean you can’t have your own private backyard BBQ! 


Memorial Weekend has always meant spending time with family and this year is no different. It’s about embracing the warm welcoming of summer and more playtime and joy. It’s moving at a slower rhythm and embracing more joy-FUL days ahead.


We’ve rounded up our favorite cookout recipes for any BBQ or pool party. All are filled with our favorite Philosophie products and meant for many or a few. Enjoy and stay safe this holiday weekend!

BERRY BLISS PEACH SLICES

Gather This: 

Fresh, organic peaches (sliced)

1 cup dairy-free yogurt (we love Kite Hill)

1 tbsp Berry Bliss Superfood + Protein Blend

A handful of raspberries, boysenberries and blueberries

1 tbsp coconut shreds

1 tbsp Berry Bee Honey


Do This:

Cut your peaches into round slices (peach count depends on how many people you’re serving or whether this is for yourself!). In a small bowl, mix the yogurt and Berry Bliss powder until well combined. On each peach slice, spread a spoonful of yogurt then top with berries, coconut shreds. Finish with a drizzle of Berry Bee Honey and enjoy!

GREEN DREAM GUACAMOLE

Gather This:

10 cherry tomatoes

6-7 garlic cloves

3 avocados

1 jalapeno

1 lime, or lemon (juiced)

1 bunch of cilantro

1 tbsp Green Dream Superfood + Protein Blend

½ red onion

Do This:

Add the herbs, garlic, jalapeno, and onions to a blender, and pulse for 2-3 minutes until a paste forms. Then, add the avocados, tomatoes and Green Dream. Pulse until all of the ingredients are incorporated. Season with salt, pepper and lime juice to taste! Transfer to a bowl and enjoy immediately!!!

STUFFED PEPPERS

Gather This:

2 cups quinoa

2 orange bell peppers

1 cup black beans

1 cup corn

1 red pepper

Corn salsa (Sprouts)

1 tbsp Green Dream Superfood + Protein Blend

Sprinkling Kite Hill Ricotta Cheese


Do This:

Cut bell peppers in half and scoop out insides. Roast for 10 min at 400. While those are roasting, make quinoa and add black beans, corn and saute the red pepper. To the roasted red pepper, add the quinoa mix and sauteed red pepper. Finish by topping with corn salsa, a sprinkling of Green Dream and Kite Hill Ricotta cheese. EAT UP!

SUPERFOOD VEGGIE SKEWERS

Gather This:

Your choice of vegetables, cut into 1 inch pieces

2 tbsp Green Bee Honey

2 tbsp Liquid Aminos, Coconut Nectar, GF Tamari, or Soy Sauce

2 cloves of garlic, chopped

1 tbsp water

1-2 tsp apple cider vinegar



Do This:

Whisk together all of your wet ingredients and season to taste. Add a little extra honey to sweeten the deal. If you’d like a thicker glaze, pour the mixture into a small pot and let it reduce over medium-high heat. Season your veggies as you wish, brush them with the glaze and set them on the grill. Flip your skewers after a few minutes or so, and add more glaze if you’d like. You can also reserve your glaze to pour on top of veggies once they’re finished cooking!

*  double or triple your wet ingredients for a larger glaze portion.

BERRY BLISS POPSICLES

Gather This:

1 cup juice of your choice!

1 tsp Berry Bliss Superfood + Protein Blend

1 tsp liquid chlorophyll (Liquid Sunshine works great!)

Organic berries and Green Bee Honey (for sweetness)


Do This:

Blend the juice and superfoods together. Pour mixture into popsicle molds and freeze. Serve on a platter for your next pool patter and finish with a drizzle of Green Bee Honey + a handful of your favorite berries. ENJOY!

Gather This:

¼ almonds

Do This:

You can use a food processor, but we used a high-speed blender which worked just as well! Heat bone broth on the stove then pour everything into a blender and blend until smooth.

Easy Peasy Chocolate Protein Pancakes + Waffles

Chocolate Cacao Superfood Protein Waffles

Host brunch at home with these simple-to-make, protein-packed, nutritionally dense chocolate superfood pancakes and waffles! They have an oh-so-yummy flavor fusion of cinnamon and vanilla, not to mention a burst of vitamins and minerals from our superfood and protein blends. In the pancakes, the vanilla especially helps to balance out the Green Dream and leafy greens, which add a boost of chlorophyll for radiant skin and hair.

For these, I like to use any gluten-free batter mix (Trader Joe’s has a wonderful one!), but Birch Blenders also offers an array of delicious mixes, if you don’t need to eat gluten-free. I also love swapping whatever oil the batter box calls for with Thrive Algae Oil (a tablespoon has the same amount of healthy fat as one whole avocado!) or the fabulously versatile coconut oil.

Be sure to freeze the waffles if you have extra–they make for a wholesome, anytime-of-day snack or dessert and are definitely one-of-a-kind. You won’t be finding any superfood-charged waffles at the grocery store. ;)

Philosophie Superfood Protein Waffles

Gather This:

For the Pancakes:

  • your favorite gluten-free or paleo pancake mix (and ingredients it requires)
  • 1 tablespoon Green Dream Superfood Blend
  • 1 small handful greens
  • a dash of cinnamon
  • a dash of vanilla extract
  • slivered almonds (topping)
  • maple syrup or Berry Bee Honey (topping)

For the Waffles:

  • your favorite gluten-free or paleo waffle mix (and ingredients it requires)
  • Thrive Algae Oil or coconut oil (to use as an ingredient in the mix)
  • 2 tablespoons Cacao Magic Superfood Blend
  • a dash of cinnamon
  • a dash of vanilla extract
  • a sprinkling of bee pollen not an animal protect-B vitamins, like B-12 (topping)
  • Cacao Bee Honey (topping)

Do This:

Follow the instructions on the pancake or waffle mix you’re using, and use a blender to whip all of the ingredients together (this is especially important for the pancakes since you’ll want to liquify the leafy greens!). Cook the batter on a skillet or in the waffle iron to create your pancakes and/or waffles. Once they’re done, sprinkle with your favorite toppings (bee pollen is wonderful for the waffles and is loaded with vitamin B-12, an essential nutrient for your brain, blood, + nervous system!) + ENJOY!

Superfood Dirty Chai Latte

Superfood Dirty Chai Vegan Latte

Make this warming, cinnamon-spiced heart-opening latte at home with a few simple ingredients and superfoods. A dirty chai latte is a chai latte but with coffee or espresso added. You can also make this recipe just a chai latte by foregoing the coffee - listen to your intuition!


A dirty chai latte is a spicy, creamy latte perfect for a cold day and during a season of heart-opening and inner healing work. When combining the spiced chai tea with our limited edition cinnamon-spiced cacao superfood blend, Ancient Aztec you have a delicious latte to enjoy.

Dirty Chai Vegan Superfood Latte

Gather This:

Pour over coffee or espresso

Nut milk of your choice (steamed)

Chai tea (store bought bags work perfectly!)

1 large heaping spoonful of Ancient Aztec

1 tsp Cacao Bee Honey (optional)


Do This:

Create your coffee or espresso as normal and brew chai tea. Combine both in a blender then add steamed milk and Ancient Aztec. Pour into a mug, sip and enjoy!

Vegan, Raw & Gluten-Free Autumn Soup

Vegan Raw Autumn Soup

This is a beautiful creamy carrot-ginger soup with a vibrant lime flavor. We've added Philosophie Green Dream for extra superfoods, nutrients and protein. Gently warm it up as the cold months approach us. Don’t heat too much or too long so the enzymes stay alive and well! 

This simple, savory soup is one of our favorite recipes for brightening up cold days. Creamy & refreshing, it's a satisfying, cozy comfort meal.

Raw, Gluten Free Autumn Carrot Ginger Soup

Gather This:

3 cup carrot juice (fun tip: did you know carrots are in the parsley family!?)
1 small, ripe avocado
¼ cup coconut meat (or use coconut butter if you don’t have coconuts on hand)
¼ cup lime Juice
1 tbsp Green Dream Superfood Blend
2 tbsp agave
1 tbsp minced ginger
¼ tsp cayenne pepper
¼ tsp sea salt
1 tbsp optional olive oil for garnish

     

    To Do:

    In a vita-mix or high-speed blender, puree all the ingredients until completely smooth. Taste for extra seasoning.
    Divide among bowls and garnish with a drizzle of olive oil and a few cilantro leaves in the middle.
    If you want it heated: Gently warm the soup over very low heat in the saucepan, stirring continuously for a few minutes until it’s warmed through.

    Get ready for a chilly night out with your little trick-or-treaters with this spicy, immunity-boosting smoothie! 

    Fresh ginger is an excellent cold-buster and tummy-soother, and cayenne possesses anti-irritant, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-flu properties (you can always go light on the cayenne and ginger too if you're sensitive to spiciness). The healing Berry Bee Honey adds a bit of sweetness to counterbalance the spice and has natural antibiotic properties, while the coconut butter brings in healthy MCT fats, helps take out some of the kick, and adds the lovely creaminess. And with its high vitamin C levels, Berry Bliss packs in a load of antioxidants, which combat free radicals and keep our immune system cells safe. 

    Boo Berry Orange Smoothie

    Gather This: 

    1 cup nut milk of choice
    1/2 frozen banana
    1 tablespoon orange zest, plus juice of 1/4 orange
    1 tablespoon fresh grated ginger (or a one inch piece)
    1 full packet of acai (we love the Sambazon packs!)
    1/4 teaspoon cayenne
    1/2 cup to 1 cup of ice
    1 tablespoon Berry Bliss Superfood Blend 
    1 tablespoon coconut butter
    1-2 tablespoons Berry Bee Honey
      Do This:
      Blend all ingredients well until smooth + top with bee pollen! ENJOY!

      Spooky Cacao Bat Date Cookies

      Cacao Bat Date Cookies

      These fun and festive bat cookies are the perfect Halloween treat made with energizing, nourishing and tasty superfood blends. Our Cacao Magic is a delicious, protein-rich Superfood Blend that is extremely high in antioxidants and magnesium, with no added sugar.


      Enjoy these bat-shaped superfood snacks with the kids or at a Halloween party. They are the perfect thing to bring to a dinner party or as a fun cooking experience with your kids.

      Spooky Date Cacao Cookies

      Gather This:

      2 cup unsoaked and pitted dates

      ½ cup Cacao Magic 

      2 tbsp Cacao Bee Honey

      1 tbsp coconut oil

      sesame seeds (optional for "eyes")


      Do This:

      1. Place dates in a food processor fitted with an “S” blade, and process until well chopped.
      2. Add Cacao Magic, honey & coconut oil; process until a ball forms.
      3. Roll to desired thickness, between cling wrap. I then flattened the balls in the cling wrap. (You could stop here and have as is, as little raw cacao cookies)
      4. Chill until firm.
      5. Cut as desired -- I used a small bat!
      6. Decorate with sesame seeds for eyes and use the end of a straw at an angle to make a smile!

      If you would like to individually wrap these, let them dry out a bit on the counter before slipping them into lollipop bags.
