Heart of the Week: Sweet Grass + Calming Energy Rituals

As humans, sometimes we’re hit with anxieties, unease, doubt, sadness, worry and any other negative thought + feeling. You may feel like the kind of person that constantly attracts this negative energy. That it follows you around like a shadow. Throughout this pregnancy I have found myself caught up in constant anxieties. Many of these worries are completely out of my control.

I’ve turned to other remedies to help ease my mind and soothe me. Home rituals can be used in many different situations and adjusted to whatever works for you. I’ve found meditation and smudging rituals to be the most effective in times of high stress and anxiety.

Lately, I’ve fallen in Sweet Grass (which we also added to the site so all you beauties can share in the magic!). Its transformative properties to the air can really alter my head space. It has an inviting, sweet aroma almost like vanilla-spice. It really draws in a lot of warmth, like a metaphorical hug.

The act of smudging is ritual alchemy — changing and shifting the air element, and transforming our current experience to a mystical one. Here are some tips for performing this ritual and clearing away the negative energy in your home, bedroom, office, bathroom or even within yourself.

    • Come with an open mind and in a vulnerable state
    • Set an intention you can carry with you while you clear out the negative thoughts and emotions
    • Open a window to allow the negative energy to escape
    • Let go of the past or the things holding you down that are simply impossible to control; coming to terms with them will immediately put you into ease

Remember to take a step back and look at your life in terms of the big picture. This worry, dilemma, or trouble is only now and fleeting. Tomorrow is a completely new adventure.
