Superfood Spotlight: Berry Bliss

I often get asked how Philosophie happenedwhat prompted me to create the blends? The idea actually came very organically in my kitchen one morning. If you’ve ever run out of just ONE of your beloved superfood ingredients, then you know how it can be a bit of a bummer for your sunrise smoothie.

That was happening constantly to me, and as a working women wearing many hats, I realized how wonderful it would be to have a product that would make my life and many others’ lives easier. Right then and there, I decided to have ALL of my beautiful superfoods rolled into one simple serving. That way, I would never run out of maca or cacao and feel like my drink wasn't complete!

After hours and hours spent searching for the highest quality, 100% organic superfoods and bagging them in my kitchen, I was so happy to discover that my blends were incredibly versatile and could only enhance a dish, never overpowering it!


A trip to Thailand helped me put the finishing touches on my third flavor, Berry Bliss. It features so many exotic fruits that you would never find at your local market, making it truly special.

Berry Bliss is SUPER high in antioxidants, vitamin A, and protein, and also contains camu camuone of the most abundant sources for vitamin C in the world!

After I had camu camu, I added in mangosteen (pictured above!)sweet fruits commonly found in the rainforest areas of Malaysia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Indonesia that are packed with fiber and potassium.


For me, sprouted, activated brown rice powder was a must, as it contains more protein and less carbs. The brown rice protein powder also adds a nourishing boost of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), which supports sleep, mood, focus, and growth hormone release.

Next up, I mixed in acai berry and goji berrytwo antioxidant powerhouses. Not only does acai contain anti-inflammatory and anti-carcinogenic properties, it also boasts Omega 6s and 9s. These healthy fats are essential to brain function! Goji also has specific antioxidants that protect your eyes and heart, improve circulation, and balance blood sugar. This all-around superstar of a berry also has compounds that may decrease the risk of developing cancer! Both acai and goji also a great source of iron, especially goji!

Lastly, maca, an adaptogen (a name given to certain herbs, plants, and natural substances that help the body adapt to stressors like a crazy schedule or a demanding job) is grown high in the mountains in South America. I am SO obsessed with it, and rely on maca to provide me with the energy that I needminus the jittersand to help balance my hormones. It keeps my mood focused and driven so that I can power through my day, and provides yet another antioxidant boost. We can never get enough of those to keep us looking and feeling our best!

Now that you’ve got the nutritional benefit rundown, let’s talk about ways to use Berry Bliss. Try them in smoothies, parfaits, oatmeal, your favorite frosting for baked treats, or with lemon and extra virgin olive oil for a tangy salad dressing or marinade. Heart of the Week: Prenatal Yoga Flow

It’s a funny thing, every pregnancy I’ve had has been remarkably different from each other. While I was Kai at 25/26 years old, I was vibrant, full of energy, didn't show for awhile and hardly had aches or pains until the third trimester. I loved doing power yoga and was practicing right up til the week I went into labor. With Leo, I was way more mellow and often preferred hiking and walking. This pregnancy has been a whole new level. I was achy WAY sooner and the pains I experienced in my third trimester with Kai and Leo I experienced within the first few months. Now, in my third trimester, all I want to do is walk and stretch.

These prenatal yoga poses have been my favorite and are fine for ALL trimesters. I’ve found it helps to bring ease to your body and offers the space to connect with the little being inside of you. Savor it.

While flowing, remember to connect to your babe. Use both hands on your womb and repeat much you love, appreciate, and can't wait to meet him or her. Connect to their little spirit; maybe you feel the little kicks, hiccups, or movement. You can go through these poses once or several times, depending on how you're feeling and how much time you have.

Tips for an easy + comfortable prenatal flow:

Sign up for a class with other mamas-to-be and really get a sense of sisterhood and community

Enjoy a solo sesh in the comforts of your home -- create a welcoming space with candles, palo santo or sweet grass, aromatherapy, and comfortable clothes or maybe even no clothes

Block out all other distractions and take the time to connect with your body and with baby

Listen to your body -- if a pose is uncomfortable then don't do it

Weekend Brunch Toast Platter Recipe

Just a touch of sweetness or maybe a lot of Cacao Magic, please! I love these Toast Tuesday creations and they’re my absolute favorite for a weekend brunch. Loaded with superfoods and Philosophie Cacao Magic and Green Dream, these beauties will awaken your soul and senses.

These toasts let you cheat dessert for breakfast and they go great with anything you’d find at a brunch party. Cacao Magic Superfood + Protein Blend is the best way to satisfy a sweet tooth while still fueling your body with the whole ingredients it needs.


Gather This:

2 slices of gluten free bread

½ Kite Hill almond milk yogurt

1 tsp Green Bee Honey

2 tbsp Nut Butter (we used Georgia Grinders)

½ tsp Cacao Bee Honey 

½ tsp Cacao Magic Superfood + Protein Blend

½ cup crumbled Pop Chips Peanut Butter Nutter Puffs

1 tbsp Cacao Sarai’s Superfood Spread

1 tbsp shredded coconut


Do This:

Toast two slices of gluten-free bread. Smear both with Kite Hill Almond Milk Yogurt. Drizzle some Green Bee Honey on one slice and finish with edible flowers or goji berries and a sprinkle of bee pollen on top. On the other slice, add the Nut Butter and Cacao Bee Honey, then top with Cacao Magic Superfood + Protein Blendcrumbled Nutter puffs, a drizzle of Cacao Sarai’s Superfood Spread and shredded coconut. You’re ready for a toast party!

Hummus Bowl Recipe

Spice up your midday snack attack with this nourishing, high vibe DIY hummus bowl! It’s super simple and requires only a few ingredients. It uses our delicious Cacao Bee Honey for extra flavor and pairs perfectly with pita bread, chips, or veggies. I love whipping this up as an afternoon snack for the boys or I’ll make it when all my girlfriends come over for dinner.

Gather This:

1 can of garbanzo beans, drained

lemon, juiced

2 garlic cloves

⅓ cup tahini

⅓ cup water

1 teaspoon Green Dream Superfood + Protein Blend

Salt + pepper

1 teaspoon of hemp seeds

1 teaspoon of turmeric

Drizzle of Cacao Bee Honey


Do This:

Combine ingredients in a blender or food processor + blend until smooth. Finish with hemp seeds, turmeric and Cacao Bee Honey. Trust us! Enjoy with pita bread, veggies, or your favorite wholesome crackers.

Berry Bliss Rose Latte Recipe

A magical morning brought to you by this pink dreamy latte. We’re counting down the days until baby girl is here and having lots of Berry Bliss Superfood + Protein Blend creations to commemorate her arrival.

This beautiful latte has a ton of superfoods and touch of cinnamon and rose petals for extra beautifying properties. It uses our entire Berry Bliss line for a good boost of Vitamin C.

 

Gather This:

1 cup coconut milk (or nut mylk of your choice)

1 tsp Berry Bliss Superfood + Protein Blend

1 tsp Berry Bee Honey

1 tbsp Coconut Bliss Coconut butter

1 scoop of Primal Kitchen Vanilla Collagen

1 tsp Sun Potion Tocos

¼ tsp cinnamon

Optional: dried rose petals


Do This:

Blend all ingredients in the blender and warm up on the stove top. Sprinkle with dried rose petals to treat yourself to a majorly yummy, high vibe and anti-aging latte.  We’re all about those beauty foods!

Heart of the Week: Micuna

As I’m nearing the end of my pregnancy, I have been preparing our home to welcome our newest Jaffe member. Spring cleaning has taken on a whole new meaning in our home as we make it baby ready. It also means I get to stock up on baby clothes, accessories, products and furniture. It’ve always wanted a baby girl and to raise one in an age where I can find products that truly align with my values is all the more special.
