If one of your 2017 goals is to eat more nourishing, high-vibrational foods, make sure you account for snack time too! With just a teeny bit of planning, you can always have a healthy snack on hand to get you through any midday munchies. Before you head out the door in the morning, toss one of these 5 tasty superfood snacks into your bag!
1. Dark Chocolate + Clementine Combo
You can probably guess why this dessert-like snack is one of my faves! For the chocolate, stick with a high quality, dark variety containing a 70% or higher cacao content to reap all of the benefits that this superfood has to offer. Not only is dark chocolate rich in fiber, copper, and magnesium, it also has four scientifically-proven BLISS chemicals! Clementines, also known as a seedless tangerine, pair deliciously with dark chocolate. They pack in citrusy goodness, along with vitamin C, folate, calcium, magnesium, and potassium for the perfect 3pm pick-me-up.
2. An Organic Apple
Keep this staple stashed in your gym bag for a post-workout snack. This incredible fruit is continuously being touted as a “miracle food” due to its high amount of fiber, which helps you feel fuller for longer and keeps your digestive system in tip-top shape. Apples also contain B-vitamins (thiamin, riboflavin, + vitamin B-6), which keep your nervous system running smoothly, as well as Vitamin C. Besides boosting your immune system, good ol’ C also repairs damage from free radicals, which can be caused by exposure to pollution, cigarette smoke, radiation, and chemicals.
3. Berry Bliss Chia Pudding
Mmmm, this is another sweet treat—sans the guilt or unnecessary, added sugar! Make a big batch of this bliss-inducing pudding (swapping out the Green Dream + Green Bee for Berry Bliss + Berry Bee!) on a Sunday and then divide into portable mason jars for snacks throughout the week. And it’s super simple to make! Just toss all the ingredients into the container, give it a good shake, and let sit for the night. In the morning (or an hour later), you’ll see that the chia seeds have taken on a delicious gel-like texture. In addition to keeping you full and supporting digestive, heart, AND bone health, chia seeds also help keep skin plump and radiant!
4. Energy Truffle Bites
Rolling up your own energy truffles is a fun + easy way to get a bunch of nutrients at once! Play around and create your own yummy combinations or try this one to get started! Gather 12 dates, ¾ cup gluten-free rolled oats, 1 tablespoon of almond butter, 1 tablespoon of Cacao Magic Superfood + Protein Blend (for protein, antioxidants, and magnesium!) 1 tablespoon of chia seeds, 1 tablespoon of hemp seeds, 1 teaspoon of maca (for energy!), and some cinnamon to regulate blood sugar. Put all ingredients into the food processor and then round out the dough into golf ball-sized portions. Bonus points if you then roll them in shredded coconut + goji berries! Store in an airtight container in your fridge.
5. Green Dream Chickpeas
For a crunchy, savory snack later in the day, bag up a few handfuls of protein-rich chickpeas! To start, rinse and drain one can of garbanzo beans, place them on a baking sheet, and then sprinkle on 1 tablespoon of Green Dream Superfood + Protein Blend. Drizzle on some EVOO, sea salt, and pepper and roast in the oven for 400 degrees for about 30 minutes. Every 10 minutes or so, shake up your baking sheet so the chickpeas are evenly (and beautifully!) roasted. And do keep an eye on them, as they can easily burn after cooking for too long!
