Boosting My Wellness With NutraVege

As you know, I’m all about the magic of superfoods + supplements, and making it a priority to incorporate them into my daily meals. Finding ways to transform a simple smoothie or a leafy green salad into a high-vibe, potent meal is what I’m all about. It's what keeps me energized and balanced as I try to conquer a million things throughout my day.

I recently came across Nature’s Way NutraVege Omega-3 liquid supplement and am seriously obsessed with it. This supplement is an entirely pure and balanced source of plant-based Omega-3s that help support eye health, cardiovascular health and brain health.* No matter what your dietary restrictions may be - whether you’re strictly plant-based or vegetarian - this is a great way to get your daily intake of essential fatty acids.

It’s also super simple to mix in with your regular diet without changing a thing. I LOVE that. Created from sustainably-sourced algae, this liquid supplement has a light taste that can be added to any meal that same way you add superfood blends. It’s so easy to take that I can even secretly add it to the boys’ smoothies in the morning without them noticing. Talk about a mother’s dream!

I’ve been feeling an urge to up my daily dose of veggies and greens lately as we’re approaching the cold season. I decided to make a delicious kelp salad, which combined beautifully with NutraVege and created a full and yummy flavor profile. It’s such a great way to boost my daily wellness routine - I highly recommend!

You can snag your own online at Amazon or at your local Whole Foods.

HOTW: Weekend Getaways

I’ve been lucky enough to get away for the weekend during last month’s Full Moon and this month’s New Moon (perfect timing, right?!). It’s honestly such a treat to pack up the car, grab the family and get away. I love mini vacations or stay-cations with my family even if we’re not going that far.

I encourage everyone to make time for a mini-vacation! You can even stay local as long as it’s an escape from your day-to-day routine and someplace you can soak up some magic with your loved ones.

A few weekends ago, we went to Palm Springs and stayed at the Avalon Hotel & Bungalows Palm Springs during last month’s Full Moon. So, so beautiful! We took both the boys + baby girl and everyone had the best time. I was also treated to a CBD-infused spa experience exclusively for Estrella Spa at the Avalon by LA-based cannabis wellness brand, Highland Pantry. So, so good for mama! Highland Pantry offers 4 different CBD infused “benefits-based” massage treatments, all using a hand-crafted line of spa products. Each massage offered - Glow, Cleanse, Heal and Renew - corresponds with a customized essential oils blend crafted to promote specific benefits. I went with Heal made with chamomile, and patchouli essential oils - so calming.

Last weekend, we escaped to Joshua Tree for a magical weekend in the desert vortex. Surrounding myself in the quiet of the desert under a New Moon with my family was so healing. We stayed at one of the Vintage Desert Homes and I CAN NOT recommend enough. Honored Mother Earth’s magic, soaked in some much-needed family love + bliss and celebrated little Noa turning 7 months! So grateful for this life.

How can you escape for the weekend? Here are a few tips!

Put some money away each paycheck into a separate “vacation” fund!

Plan a month in advance. (You know when you’ll need a break)

Book a trip in the offseason - especially popular spots like Joshua Tree.

Get others involved! Plan with a group or ask for tips/support.

Finish up all the work you can before the weekend! Don’t leave anything for the day you come back.

Meal + snack prep! You don’t have to buy everything there so bring all the superfoods you need!

Get your kiddos involved in packing! Let them choose their favorite clothes + toys, but don’t forget the essentials!

Feed Your Face // Green Dream Face Mask Recipe

The winter season has been making my skin incredibly dry - it’s so important to not only nourish your body with clean, vibrant ingredients on the inside but on the outside too! I always make sure to treat my skin with the cleanest products to avoid toxic buildup and keep my skin fresh and full of GLOW! Philosophie Babe, Marissa Cohen, shares an amazing Green Dream Face Mask recipe that completely nourishes your skin down to every cell!

Hi beautiful babes! This recipe is meant to nourish you from the outside in. While I definitely believe that the key to clear eyes, radiant skin, and strong hair/nails start with what you put into your body, Philosophie products can also be used topically to get you glowing. With just a few simple ingredients, this face mask in the perfect way to pamper yourself. Since our skin is our largest organ, it’s important to be conscious of the ingredients in our beauty products.  Many masks on the market strip your skin of its natural oils. This homemade version will help treat impurities and decrease inflammation, but when you splash yourself clean, your skin will be left airy instead of tight.

Greek yogurt is the base of this mask, which provides cooling effects to calm any redness and combat dryness. We mixed this with our Green Bee Honey for its antibacterial properties and a squeeze of lemon juice to provide enzymes to gently exfoliate the skin. Skin and self-care, made simple!

Gather This:
1 heaping tbsp Greek yogurt (can sub any plain non-dairy yogurt that you have on hand)
1 tsp Green Bee Honey
Juice of ¼ of a small lemon

Do This:
Mix all ingredients in a bowl until combined. Lather paste mixture on face for 10-20 minutes, sip on one of our tonic recipes and indulge in a Philosophie superfood-infused treat for the ultimate at-home spa experience.

A Note on 2019

Happy New Year!!

Whether you find yourself recovery from last night’s celebrations or feeling rejuvenated and excited at the start of a new year, take a moment and remind yourself that you already have so much beauty, strength and fire within you.

2019 is the #YearofYou. This doesn’t just mean challenging yourself to workout every day and drink all the celery juice you can (although more superfoods couldn't hurt!). This is a year of showing up to yourself fully to learn, grow, forgive, heal, flourish, and EVOLVE. Let life open you up. Get messy. Get crazy. Love too much - yourself and everyone around you.

I promise to continue showing up to all of you and to myself, every day. I promise to be vulnerable and honest because you’ve given me the space to do so. I have so much in store for 2019 and I can’t wait to share it all with you. Thank you for riding this journey with me.

I created this wallpaper for your new year to help you drop in and remember your “why” and “what” every day. This #YearofYou is all about connecting back to your divine self and the unique you that you already are. Download it, print it, share it. I hope it allows you to connect every day to the magic within you - just as you are.

How to Make Drool-Worthy + HEALTHY Dishes During the Holidays

The holidays can be a mess to your home + health if you let it. As a mindful mama of three, making sure my family has enough nutrients + sustenance is a major priority. My favorite way to keep our health on track is to make meals that are loaded with as many fruits, veggies and superfoods as possible. Plus, these meals look so much more colorful and appetizing!

Soups, salads, baked fish, holiday ham, and baked goods - all the warm, comfort foods made extra good with roasted veggies and seasonal fruits stored fresh in our double-door Samsung refrigerator. More importantly, I honestly couldn’t survive the holidays without a kitchen filled with trusted cooking appliances from Samsung to carry me through the months of complete chaos.

It’s so easy to upgrade a dish when you bake it or roast it in the Samsung oven. You can add a ton of holiday spices to your favorite veggies like ginger, sage and rosemary. What I love adding the most though to any veggie dish I’m baking is Green Dream! It has such healing + detoxifying properties and brings out the rich flavors of the veggies making it completely drool-worthy.

One of my favorite holiday traditions is baking with my boys. Our Samsung oven makes it SO easy to make batches on batches of delish paleo chocolate chip or vanilla cookies. It’s so simple and everyone can get in on the fun. Plus, who doesn’t want their home to smell like freshly baked cookies?

Paleo Vanilla Cookies

The Cacao Magic gives the cookie a lovely hint of chocolatey-ness, while also providing an energy-lifting burst of nutrients. Then sneak some serious detoxification powers into your treats with a spoonful of Green Dream. A serving of this superfood blend packs more protein than an egg, more iron than a serving of beef, less sugar than a stick of gum, and more fiber than bran cereal!

Gather This:

2 cups almond flour

½ cup unsweetened shredded coconut

1 tsp Green Dream Superfood + Protein Blend

1 tsp Cacao Magic Superfood + Protein Blend

1 tsp baking powder

½ tsp baking soda

½ tsp sea salt

1 tbsp pure vanilla extract

2 eggs

1/2 cup honey

2 tbsp chocolate chips

Do This:

Preheat oven to 350. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper. In a large bowl, combine almond flour, coconut, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and the superfood blends. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, honey, and vanilla until smooth. Add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients and stir until well combined. Add chocolate chips. Using a tablespoon, drop the batter evenly onto the prepared baking sheets; repeat with all of the batter to make 6 cookies on each baking sheet. Bake for 15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into a cookie comes out clean. Transfer to a rack to cool completely.

7 Rituals to Help Stay Healthy + Grounded During the Holidays

As we continue through the whirlwind holiday season packed with parties, all the decor, baking, cooking and gift shopping runs, it’s SO important to stay HEALTHY, grounded + calm so that you can savor the beauty of the holidays + celebrate what it’s really about—spending time with your tribe of family + friends.

To stay supported + connected to yourself and YOUR needs, incorporate these rituals throughout the season:

Start Your Day with a Superfood Smoothie
It can be difficult to maintain healthy eating habits during the holidays, especially when you don’t have as much time to make wholesome, homemade meals and will be attending festive gatherings with dishes that might not be the most nutrient-dense. To make sure your body is receiving all of the nourishment it needs to keep you free from sickness and GLOWING, make it a daily ritual to whip up an energizing smoothie filled with fruits + veggies, Philosophie superfoods, and coconut water or nut mylks.

Ground in the MAGIC of Crystals
Beyond their beauty, crystals can heal and restore balance by drawing out any negative energy and tension from you or your environment. Place your crystals under the Full Moon (December 22nd) to help them reset and absorb good vibes + energy. Then release your intentions by holding your crystals during meditation and carrying them throughout your day.

Focus on Your B R E A T H
Breath or prana is our life force, our energy, and our way of being. When we’re rushing around, we forgot about it entirely. Whenever you feel out of touch with your being and need to restore a sense of serenity, practice this relaxing breathwork: close your mouth, inhale through your nose and count to 4, hold your breath and count to 7, and then exhale through your mouth and count to 8. Repeat this breath cycle until you feel revitalized and calm.

Stay HYDRATED

Did you know about 60% of the human body is made up of water? Anything from light activity to stress can deplete your water source. Make sure to keep yourself vibrant + hydrated during the holiday season! I love adding Liquid I.V. to my waters throughout the day because they make it super simple to stay hydrated. By adding one packet to my water bottle, I am actually increasing my water intake 3x and adding delicious replenishing electrolytes without any of the sugars found in most hydrating drinks. Such a win.

Cultivate a Sacred Space at Home
Maintain a welcoming, soothing environment at home—contain all the gifts to a single corner or room in the house and ask your kiddos to be your little helpers in keeping the house tidy. Gather beautiful candles and keep the energy in your space uplifting and welcoming by cleansing the air whenever you can with Palo Santo and a spritz of Chrysalis Water (I spray this on myself when I need an instant uplift).

M O V E + S W E A T
Release stress + re-energize by staying active! Choose whatever sport or activity that you LOOK FORWARD to doing and then make time for it amidst the chaos. You don’t have to allocate an hour or two for each workout—keep it short + sweet if you like with 10 minutes yoga flows, a night walk around the block (perfect for scoping out all the pretty twinkly lights!), or at-home workouts!

Fill Your Journal with Gratitude
Collect your thoughts, focusing on ones of gratitude, in a small journal over the next few months. Even though we may know we have a lot to be grateful for, it makes a world of a difference to carve out a sacred time to acknowledge and appreciate the treasures + love we have. Jot down the items, people in your life, and special experiences that you’re grateful for + find joy in knowing that you are blessed with abundance.
