4th of July Burgers + Fries

What’s a patriotic celebration without all the fixins? Friends, family, refreshments, flags, and of course, the FOOD. This holiday, I intend on fueling myself with plenty of snacks during the day, but I have a feeling that by dinner time, I’m going to be ready for a satisfying meal!

So as a nod to American tradition, I plan on feasting on my version of a classic... BURGERS + FRIES.

Although this is a meatless and semi-bunless version, trust me, this dish is NOT lacking in flavor!! This portobello “burger” is completely scrumptious, and I love the fact that it feels like a big indulgence, when in fact, it’s jam-packed with nutrients. Each bite is full of minerals, healthy fats + superfoods... and the sweet potato wedges are the perfect sidekick. Not to mention the goji ketchup, which is sweet and spicy and super addicting.

I chose to stuff my burger with some leftover ingredients from my fridge, but feel free to change things up. Try grilling some onions, melting a slice of your favorite cheese, or throwing on some pickles!! This is your creation! So have fun with it, and most importantly, ENJOY!

Gather This:

For the burgers…

For the fries… (serves 3-4)

For the goji ketchup (makes 1-2 servings)

  • 3 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon sundried tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried goji berries
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Berry Bee Honey
  • apple cider vinegar (opt.)
  • hemp seeds (opt.)
  • himalayan pink salt

Do This:

1. Burgers: grill your portobello “buns” until they are warm and tender. Season with salt, pepper + a few pinches of Green Dream, and stuff all of your toppings in between.

2. Fries: preheat your oven to 375 degrees, and mix your potatoes with all of the seasonings. Transfer to dish or tray, and roast until tender. This usually takes about 20-30 minutes, just make sure to toss the spuds every 10 minutes or so to help them cook evenly.

3. Goji Ketchup: add all ingredients to a small food processor or blender, and pulse until incorporated. Adjust seasoning + add salt as needed. Add a splash of vinegar or water for a smoother consistency. Top with hemp seeds if you'd like!

Cacao Magic Beet Smoothie Bowl Recipe

Hey loves! My stunning Philosophie Babe, Marissa Cohen, shared her smoothie recipe with me and I could not possibly be more in love with it. As an expecting mama, the metabolism and energy kick I get from this recipe are an absolute must. What’s good for me is good for baby girl! Here’s why Marissa swears by this recipe, a delicious and nourishing blend of Cacao Magic Superfood and beets.

I love this smoothie for several reasons. First of all, it looks like a shade of lipstick I used to steal from my mother and wear like a #princess. More importantly, it tastes amazing! I love incorporating grounding, hearty root vegetables into my main meals, so I figured I could give them a chance in my smoothies. It was a success! In this recipe, I used beets, which are full of fiber and nutrients. Beets cleanse the liver too, making them a great veggie to include in your breakfast. They also pair perfectly with Cacao Magic Superfood to create a rich, deep flavor. This smoothie is thick and satisfying, and it gets your metabolism and brain going first thing in the morning. I hope you love this smoothie bowl as much as I do!

Gather This:

1 large or two small beets (you can steam raw beets and then freeze them, or buy beets without any vinegar on them)

1/4 avocado

1/2 frozen banana

1-2 tablespoons Cacao Magic Coconut Butter

2 tablespoons Cacao Magic Superfood + Protein Blend

1 teaspoon of cinnamon

1 teaspoon Cacao Bee Honey + extra for drizzling

Do This:

Throw the beets, avocado, banana, Cacao Magic Superfood, and cinnamon into a high-power blender and blend until smooth. Top with banana, granola (optional) and a drizzle of Cacao Bee Honey and enjoy!

Avocado Curry Toast Recipe

Yummy, nutritious food will make you feel so good and full of that holiday cheer. I’ve been feeling inspired by Kara Elise’s TOAST cookbook. It has so many beautiful, simple toast recipes which are the BEST thing for a busy mama.

I added a Philosophie touch to this variation of an avocado toast. I explored flavor combinations and experimented with playing in the kitchen. I’ve had a interest in curry and came across Jem Organics’ Cashew Curry Tahini and fell in love. It’s made up of five organic ingredients (cashews, sesame seeds, coconut sugar, curry powder, salt) and works as a spread or drizzle. This nutty, bold taste mixed with the subtle, powerful kick of Green Dream Superfood + Protein Blend is magical.

This is such an energizing and satisfying snack or breakfast meal on the go. It’s full of healthy fats and superfoods; ready to keep you moving from yoga class to holiday shopping.

Gather This:

Kite Hill Chive Cream Cheese

1 avocado, sliced

¼ pea sprouts

Drizzle of Jem Organics’ Cashew Curry Tahini

A sprinkling of Everything but the Bagel Seasoning (Trader Joe’s)

½ tsp Green Dream Superfood + Protein Blend

Do This:

Toast bread, spread on the cream cheese, top with avocado slices and a sprinkling of pea sprouts. Finish with a drizzle of curry tahini, seasoning, and Green Dream Superfood + Protein Blend. Enjoy!

Raw Vegan Key Lime Matcha Cake Recipe

I came across Alyssa Melody’s products on Root & Bones and knew we had to make some magic together. I had no idea it would create this guilt-free treat that tastes like heaven. It has all my favorite ingredients in it, including matcha for natural energizing vibes, dates, coconut, and a touch of lime for an extra kick.

We used our satisfying Coconut Dream Superfood Coconut Better which is full of powerful nutrients and complemented each unique flavor in this sweet cake from the lime to the delectable flavor profile of Root & Bones’ He Shou Wu. This superherb powder stimulates the body to strengthen red blood cell membranes, lower cholesterol, support the immune system, and improve brain function. All these potent superfoods in a slice of cake makes you feel SO good!

This is such a fun holiday treat to share with friends and family for guilt-free indulgence.

Gather This:

1 cup pitted dates (soaked for 1 hour if dry)

1/2 cup almonds

1/2 cup walnuts

1/3 cup shredded coconut

1 tbsp coconut oil

1 tbsp Coconut Dream Coconut Butter

2 tsp He Shou Wu

2 cups raw cashews

1/2 cup melted coconut oil

1 tbsp melted Coconut Dream Coconut Butter

2 tbsp maple syrup

2/3 cup lime juice

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon matcha powder

2 tsp He Shou Wu

Do This:

To make the crust, combine all the ingredients in a food processor until sticky. Once the crust is sticky, press it down into a 9 inch springform cake pan.

Blend the filling ingredients in a food processor until soft and creamy. Pour the filling over the crust and place in the freezer for at least 3 hours (or let it sit overnight). Take the pie out of the freezer 20 minutes prior to eating. Serve and enjoy!
