As a small business, we often get asked how Philosophie was created. The idea actually came to our founder, Sophie Jaffe right in her kitchen. As a working mama wearing many hats, she realized how wonderful it would be to have a product that would make her life and many others’ lives easier. She decided to have ALL of her beautiful superfoods rolled into one simple package.
Philosophie blends were born and each are incredibly versatile and only enhance a dish, never overpowering it! A trip to Thailand inspired the creation of Berry Bliss.
Berry Bliss is high in antioxidants, protein, vitamin A, and contains camu camu—one of the world's most abundant forms of vitamin C. No fillers means you only need a small amount of this perfect mix to feel a shift in your energy! Plus we've added the highest quality, sprouted, raw brown rice protein powder to this incredible blend, which adds a creamy light flavor and a nourishing boost of gamma-aminobutyric acid.
Not only is Berry Bliss great for your health, but it is delicious too—all without any added sugar! In this post, we’re exploring more about camu camu and its vast health benefits.
Acai, Goji berry and Camu Camu are all exotic, enchanting fruits that are extremely high in vitamin C and A, giving them lots of antioxidant superpowers. Antioxidants help prevent aging and disease by combating the effects of oxidation in our body tissues. Camu Camu is a small red berry that grows in the Peruvian jungle, and has the highest vitamin C content of any fruit on the entire planet – over 20 times the C found in two pounds of oranges! You’ll find that these superfoods come in many forms including powders, pills and frozen. All can be added to juices, smoothies, or even added to oats or greek yogurt.

Our blend, Berry Bliss, is SUPER high in antioxidants, vitamin A, and protein, and also contains camu camu—one of the most abundant sources for vitamin C in the world!
A fruit that’s native to the Peruvian Amazon, Camu Camu is a potent source of vitamin C (one serving contains 1100 percent of your daily required dose, which is more than nine times the amount found in a medium orange) and may be able to reduce inflammation and oxidative stress in the body. Mix it into smoothies, oatmeal or yogurt or even add it to your tea (so long as the water isn’t boiling hot).
How To Use Camu Camu
Camu camu powder has the highest food-based form of vitamin C of any food known on this planet. Camu camu is also high in antioxidants, which can fight off free radicals that can lead to inflammation and disease. Enjoy in your morning yogurt or smoothie with fruits & honey to balance the tart flavor.
Because it’s a whole food, you’re getting phytonutrients, antioxidants, and co-enzymes, which makes it really nutritious for the body.
Camu camu powder is POWERFUL for colds and overall wellness
Of course, most agree that vitamin C is great for immunity, and since camu camu has a TON of vitamin C, it makes sense that it could help with sickness & colds.

For many of us, winter brings increased stress, dry skin, and a general impulse to count down the days until things get a bit more sunny and warm. But since we can’t wish away the chilly months every year, we’ve got to find ways to THRIVE through the season.
It’s time to implement some winter self-care rituals into your routine. And now is as good a time as any to start giving yourself some TLC. Following these self-care tips can help you keep your body, mind, and soul in tip-top shape this cold season.
ENJOY WARM DRINKS
It’s winter, so it is cold out. A hot beverage like coffee has plenty of benefits. Coffee is proven to lower rates of certain illnesses and inspire alertness! That means that not only does it improve physical health, but mental clarity and calm. Especially when the cold makes our bodies tense, the hot beverage instantly allows us to unwind. If you’re not a coffee drinker, tea or hot cocoa are great alternatives to keep you toasty.
CARVE SOME TIME OUT OF EACH DAY FOR PAMPERING
Even if it’s just five minutes, finding some time in your day for some winter pampering will do wonders for your mood and self-image. Winter is notorious for stripping skin of moisture, and the decreased hours we spend soaking up the sun’s glorious rays don’t improve matters either (hello, paleness!).
Using a deep-moisturizing mask or nourishing face oil are great ways to rectify scaly, sullen skin – and who doesn’t love slathering deliciously-scented products on their faces in the evening? Many skincare enthusiasts also recommend dry body brushing in the winter, to exfoliate the skin and to increase circulation.
GET ENOUGH SHUT-EYE
In winter, the days become shorter, and our bodies begin to crave a little more rest and relaxation (it’s one of those annoying evolutionary tendencies). To avoid midwinter exhaustion, ensure you’re getting a good 7-9 hours of sleep per night.
TRY SOME BAKING
Baking is not always easy; however, the oven can keep you warm, even if the recipe doesn’t go well. Baking is a great way to practice following directions and build self-esteem. When a recipe is baked perfectly, you have achieved a great goal for your mental health. The best part is you get to enjoy the delicious warm food.
MOVE YOUR BODY
Winter tends to bring out the worst in the couch potatoes among us: as soon as the weather drops, we’re in front of the TV refusing to budge. Unfortunately, that’s possibly the worst thing we could do for our bodies and minds in the winter.
Since we need endorphins all year round, we’ve got to keep up our exercise in the colder months. Whether it’s a crisp winter walk or a group yoga class done in the comfort of a studio (or even at home), getting your body moving is vital.
FIND THE THING THAT RELAXES YOU
It’s so important to keep sight of the strategies and habits which curb our stress levels in the winter. For you, stress release might mean writing in your journal, or listening to music, or taking a long stroll on the beach – whatever it takes to get your mind off everyday stresses.
Just because it’s not summer anymore doesn’t mean you should let go of your balanced diet. In fact, it’s perhaps even more critical in the winter to eat healthy and mindfully. To ward off all of those unwanted colds and flu, choose hearty, tummy-warming foods such as vegetable stew which will keep you satisfied and energized through lethargic winter days.
Remember to stay hydrated, too – all those cold winds can really whip the moisture out of us! To support your immune system further, you might also want to supplement your diet with a multivitamin, if you’re not taking one already.

So what’s the secret to longevity, vitality and radiance? Simple, eat more antioxidants.
Antioxidants are molecules that fight free radicals in your body. Free radicals are compounds that can cause harm if their levels become too high in your body and are produced naturally within the body in response to environmental toxins like cigarette smoke, sunlight, chemicals, radiation, exercise and inflammation.Free radicals are linked to multiple illnesses, including diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.
While your body has its own antioxidant defenses to help keep free radicals under control you can also find antioxidants in fruits, veggies and SUPERFOODS.
What are superfoods?
Superfood is a term sometimes used to describe food with high phytonutrient content that may provide health benefits as a result. For example, blueberries are often considered a superfood (or superfruit) because they contain significant amounts of ANTIOXIDANTS, vitamin C, manganese, and dietary fiber. You don't need specific foods for specific ailments. A healthy diet incorporating a variety of the following superfoods will help you maintain your weight, fight disease, and live longer.
Here are a few of our favorite superfoods that you can easily work into your daily diet without breaking a sweat.
Acai, Goji berry and Camu Camu
These are all exotic, enchanting fruits that are extremely high in vitamin C and A, giving them lots of antioxidant superpowers. Antioxidants help prevent aging and disease by combating the effects of oxidation in our body tissues. Camu Camu is a small red berry that grows in the Peruvian jungle, and has the highest vitamin C content of any fruit on the entire planet – over 20 times the C found in two pounds of oranges (wow)! You’ll find that these superfoods come in many forms including powders, pills and frozen. All can be added to juices, smoothies, or even added to oats or greek yogurt. You can also get all three of these superfoods in a powder blend, like our Berry Bliss Superfood Blend.
If you’re adding superfoods to your overnight oats or yogurt, go ahead and sprinkle some blueberries on them! When it comes to fresh fruit, blueberries win the prize for the highest antioxidant content of them all! It also helps boost your immune system which prevents you from getting sick. Blueberries are excellent for the brain, memory, and vision! And they are becoming known for a wealth of anti-aging benefits, too. Who knew the fountain of youth would taste so delicious!
One of the most abundant sources of antioxidants in the world (far more than blueberries and red wine) and will give you amazing energy and mental clarity. It also has a great amount of Magnesium in it, which most people are deficient in and don’t even know it. Cacao has natural mood-boosting compounds, which help restore natural energy and ease mood imbalances. I love using cacao in my morning coffee and in my favorite sweets and baked goods.
Raw cacao is a star ingredient to our Cacao Magic blend, which provides the blend’s chocolate flavor. It tastes AMAZING and also provides an energizing, caffeine-free power boost. Just add a spoonful of Cacao Magic to get your protein, calcium, and yummy chocolate fix!
Collagen. A beauty myth or fact? A superfood blend infused with collagen like our Cosmic Elixir is an easy way to help promote vibrant skin, as well as balance and support your mood in your everyday life. Collagen is the most abundant source of protein in your body. It’s a major building block of bones, skin, muscles, tendons and ligaments and helps keep skin glowing and smooth.
Why do you need Collagen?
The body naturally produces collagen on its own but over time it slowly loses the ability to synthesize enough of it on its own. In supplementing your diet with an adaptogenic and collagen blend you’re supporting your body’s natural ability to produce collagen and keep you feeling blissful longer!
Truthfully: Our body doesn’t need collagen since our body produces an abundance of it when we’re young but by our early twenties the body’s collagen production starts to slow down. And when you factor in environmental and lifestyle factors like sun exposure, air pollution, diet, stress, water intake, and sleep can lead to skin issues, hair health damage and more. With the support of Collagen you can stay feeling confident, glowing and beautiful.
The Beauty Benefits of Collagen
Skin health is the most well-known benefit of taking collagen. Collagen strengthens, hydrates and supports the elasticity of skin, keeping your complexion looking youthful and glowing. Collagen also supports stronger hair and nails and helps maintain bone and joint health.
