Slim Down for Summertime

As a lover of all things fun and sun, I am BEYOND excited for the weather to heat up and for the summer season to officially begin. Even though I make a conscious effort to nourish my body and live an active lifestyle throughout the year, summertime definitely gives me a little extra motivation to get toned up. These are a few of my favorite ways to get bikini-ready:

Morning Detox Drink

This time of year, I like to wake up and put on a bikini! To kickstart digestion for a flat tummy, I start my morning with a glass of lemon water and add little manuka honey. Lemons are super cleansing for the digestive system, and help eliminate toxins from the body. Try adding a pinch of cayenne pepper too- it's a powerful way to quickly boost your metabolism!

Greens in Everything

You can't go wrong with greens. Citrus salads are a yummy way to load up on green things, especially when you're craving crisp, cooling foods. They are super quick to throw together, and a drizzle of Green Bee Honey adds a detoxifying dose of spirulina + a hint of sweetness to any dressing !

Switch It Up

When the weather is nice, I like to experiment with new workouts. Grab a friend and do something you don't always have time for. Exercising should be fun. Warm weather is the perfect excuse to head to the beach and ride bikes, surf, hike do yoga...whatever makes you happy + helps you work up a sweat! Try to change up your routine, and take on a new challenge.

Breakfast Smoothies

I lead a super busy life, so I need to start my day with fuel that will last until I can get another bite. Smoothies are perfect in the morning and give me optimal energy on hot days. I like to build a base with some greens, fresh lemon juice, nut milk, and of course, superfoods! Usually, I'll add a spoonful of Coconut Bliss Coconut Butter to make sure that I’m fueling both my body and my brain. Healthy fats keep you full, satisfied, support concentration, and they happen to be a wonderful way to naturally boost your metabolism and keep your body supercharged!  


Stay Hydrated

Drinking water is super important, especially when it’s hot out. Most of us sweat during a workout, but the heat from the sun also causes us to perspire and lose additional water reserves. The LAST thing you want to do is experience severe dehydration, so make sure to take water with you throughout the day. I like to keep reusable water bottles in my bag, and also in my car. That way I can stay hydrated no matter where I go. 6 bottles, 7 bottles, maybe 8? Whatever it takes! Water also helps us stay full for longer periods of time, so drink up!

Be Outside

Play with your kids outside! No excuses! I live in Southern California where I'm lucky to have great weather all year round. Still, summer is my favorite time to embrace being barefoot in my backyard and spending time with my boys! Sometimes we try to do a little yoga, or stretch as our skin soaks up the sun. A natural dose of Vitamin D keeps our cells energized, and allows us to feel like we're glowing from the inside out!

No matter how you like to prep for summertime, make sure that you do it from a place of love, not restriction. Be good to your body, fuel up with nourishing foods, and keep yourself hydrated. This combination will surely keep you energized to enjoy the sun all summer long + feel good doing it too!

Hummus Spiralized Veggie Platter

Sometimes I don't really feel like making a “normal” dinner. All I want is veggies - both raw and roasted - compiled into a meal. If you like your spiralized zucchini sautéed, feel free to sautée them for 2-3 min over medium heat with 1 tsp coconut oil. Sometimes I want them sautéed, other times I like the refreshing raw crunch. It's a personal preference! We have a beet hummus recipe that's out of this world if you want to make your own, if not, we love Hope hummus and garlic majestic brands.

Gather This:

1 cup Hummus

1 Roasted Sweet Potato

1 Spiralized Zucchini + 1 Yellow Squash

Fried Banana

Handful of Organic Blueberries

1 handful of Kale

1 tsp Green Dream

Hemp Hearts

EVOO+Salt // Pepper

Do This:

Slice and Roast the sweet potato in the oven on 400 degrees for 20 minutes. While that roasts, spiritualize the vegetables and dress with Salt+Pepper. Slice a banana quarter size and fry in Coconut Oil, for 2 minutes on each side. Chop the kale and saute for 4 minutes in Coconut Oil. Spread out the hummus on the platter, layer the sweet potato, add on fried bananas, pile on the spiralized veggies, sprinkle the blueberries, kale, a drizzle of EVOO, Salt, Pepper and Green Dream!

Cacao Magic Cheesecake

Who else is feelin’ some cacao today? Yes, please. This variation of a vegan cheesecake is extra delish and packed with yummy goodness for your body and soul. Your food palette doesn’t need to suffer when you’re making smart and BALANCED food choices. Never say no to a sweet fix and your body will be thanking you for this one.

Our Cacao Magic Cheesecake makes 24 slivers of a large pie or 4 smaller pies with 6 slices. We used a food processor for easy prep, but you can make it work with what you have on hand.


Gather this:

For the Crust

2 cups raw macadamia nuts OR a blend of almonds, walnuts and pecans

1/2 cup dates, pitted

1/4 cup dried coconut

For the “Cheese”

3 cups chopped cashews, soaked for at least 1 hour

3/4 cup lemon juice (or lime juice-i used limequats for this! so yum)

3/4 cup honey (Use the Philosophie Cacao Bee Honey for a touch of nutrients!)

3/4 cup coconut oil

1 tbsp Cacao Magic

1 teaspoon vanilla

1/2 teaspoon celtic sea salt (optional)

For the Topping

A sprinkling of Cacao Magic followed by:

Halved and whole fruit (we used blueberries, strawberries, and white dragon fruit; flower petals are a bonus)

Do this:

To make the crust, process the nuts and dates in the food processor. Sprinkle dried coconut onto the bottom of an 8 or 9 inch springform pan. Press crust onto the coconut. This will prevent it from sticking.

To make the cheese, blend the cashews, Cacao Magic, lemon juice, Cacao Bee honey, gently warmed coconut oil, vanilla, sea salt, and 1/2 cup water. Blend until smooth and adjust to taste.

Pour the mixture onto the crust. Remove air bubbles by tapping the pan on a table.

Place in the freezer until firm. Remove the whole cake from the pan while frozen and place on a serving platter. Defrost in the refrigerator. (the more defrosted the better the taste)

Place fruits/toppings as you'd like and ENJOY!

Simple Kale Salad

Apples! One of my favorite fall flavors. I love adding seasonal fruits to my dishes, including a simple salad. Why not try a salad with kale, the queen of greens? Not only does this salad set your taste buds on a fall flavor adventure, but it's packed with a ton of nutritional goodness. From kale to blueberries (adds a soft sweetness), almonds, spiralized veggies (a fun and light touch), apple (you can never go wrong with Granny Smith), and some nutritional yeast, lemon and bee pollen for a superfood punch. The crispness and crunch of this kale salad is worthy of any lunchtime treat.  


Gather This:

  • 1 bunch of Organic Kale
  • 1 handful of Organic Blueberries
  • ¼ cup slivered Almonds
  • Any spiralized veggies (we used spiralized Zucchini)
  • ½ sliced Apple
  • 1 rsp Nutritional Yeast
  • 1 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Juice of ½ a lemon
  • Sprinkle of Bee Pollen


Do This:

Chop Kale and set in a bowl, or serving platter. Sprinkle on Blueberries, sliced Apple, Nutritional Yeast, Bee Pollen, Slivered Almonds and spiralized Zucchini. Toss with lemon juice, a drizzle of EVOO and dash of Nutritional Yeast!

Superfood Cookiewich Recipe

These supercharged ice cream sammies are a snap to make + are likely THE healthiest cookiewiches you'll get your hands on. Baked with coconut oil, almond flour, Cacao Bee Honey, chocolate chips, and our superfood blends, they're full of protein, vitamins, and minerals! When you tuck a spoonful of your favorite dairy-free ice cream in between two warm superfood cookies, you'll have a decadent, yet wholesome treat – and hopefully some leftover Berry Bliss, Cacao Magic, and Green Dream Cookies to crunch on later! 


Gather This:

    Do This:

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Add wet ingredients into one bowl and dry ingredients in the other bowl. Mix wet ingredients into dry ingredients and then add the chocolate chips. Separate the dough into 3 bowls, and in each separate bowl, add one of the three superfood powders. Roll into one-inch, golf-sized balls, and place onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake each flavor for 10 minutes or so (depending on your oven)! Enjoy as is, or get a little extra indulgent like we did! Sandwich ½ cup of your favorite dairy-free ice cream in between two superfood cookies!
