Since I am obsessed with Sophie's products, I thought it'd be great to give you one of my favorite superfood smoothie recipes. I love to put either berry bliss or (and!) green dream in this one.

This recipe is inspired by my favorite smoothie from Active Culture Cafe in Laguna Beach.

Cacao Magic + Green Dream Oat Bars

It's so nice to make your own bars + be prepared for the week ahead with snack ammo. These are slightly sweet with no added sugar. If you want to make them a wee bit sweeter you could add 2 tablespoons of agave or honey. yum!

{If you do more goji berries and add a tablespoon of Berry Bliss, this would be the perfect bar for valentines day! Use a heart cookie cutter to make them beautiful little hearts! Great gift for kiddos to give their friends since you could omit the cashews and they would be nut free/gluten-free!}

  • 1/4 C + 1 t coconut oil
  • 1 C [packed] Medjool dates, pits removed
  • 1 T vanilla extract
  • 1 T green dream powder
  • 1 T cacao magic powder
  • 1 1/2 C gluten-free rolled oats
  • 1/2 C coconut flour
  • 1 handful raw cashews [optional]
  • 1/4 C coconut milk or any dairy-free milk
  • 3/4 t baking soda
  • 1/3 C hemp seeds
  • 1/2 t sea salt [i used pink Himalayan]
  • 1/4 C cacao nibs [optional]
  • 1/4 C goji berries [optional]

Preheat oven to 350 F. Lightly grease a baking sheet with 1 t coconut oil, or use parchment paper.

In a small saucepan, melt the remaining coconut oil into a warm liquid. Pour the coconut oil into a food processor, add the dates, coconut milk, vanilla extract and Philosophie superfood powders [green dream + cacao magic]. Blend until a smooth paste ha formed, stopping the machine and scraping down the sides when needed. I added a handful of cashews at this point, it's completely optional + the bars will taste awesome without them!

In a large bowl, mix together oats, flour, baking soda, salt and hemp seeds. Stir in the date mixture and mix well. Fold in the cacao nibs and goji berries.

Spread the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet with a spatula [or fingers, like me] forming it into a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick. Cut the wet dough into about a dozen rectangles or desired shape. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until edges begin to turn golden brown and are cooked through. Let cool, then separate the rectangles and in-joy!

Halloween Berry Bliss Teething Cookies!

The other Philosophie mama writing to you today! I might be chiming in here and there so I should probably introduce myself...that way when you see pictures below of a child you have never seen before you won't go assuming that Sophie started taking pictures of random children in the park!!! That young one below is my son Levi, and he just turned one in September. I am Kelsey, his proud mama (most of the time!) and I am another Philosophie mama!!

For all you mommies out there who need some help when your little one is teething these really helped my son. And, I made them fun for Halloween too! I actually made them just out of curiosity to see what they would turn out like, not entirely because I thought my son was teething. But BOY oh BOY did my baby boy need these today...

 Like REALLY REALLY needed them...

The teething cookies are really easy to make and with the added Berry Bliss superfood powder you are giving your kids a healthy, nutritious snack, too!! And you can have your kids help in making them into all sorts of fun shapes. Store them in an airtight container and you can have plenty for all those teething moments that come your way!
How fun would these be for Christmas?!!

Berry Bliss Teething Cookies

1 cup flour (I used half whole wheat and half coconut flour)

1 cup infant cereal

3 tablespoon oil (I used Garden of Life coconut)

1 tsp cinnamon

ice water

1 T Berry Bliss superfood blend

Heat oven to 425 degrees.

Mix all of the ingredients in a bowl until it forms into a ball. Start with 1/4 cup ice water and add more as needed. Keep adding more ice water until it forms a dough.

On a floured surface roll out the dough very thin and use a cookie cutter to shape into anything you'd like.

Bake for 10-15 minutes until golden brown.

Look at our poor dog begging in the corner...I guess a good thing is if your children don't like them they can double as dog treats! :) But I promise your kids will like them!!

Do you have any good tricks or strategies when your little ones are teething? Please share!

Halloween "Dirt" Superfood Cups! (Gluten-free & vegan)

These amazing superfood cups were created when I was playing around in the kitchen after making another recipe. They evolved because I wanted a super-rich, protein-filled, low sugar snack that also gave me energy. They ended up looking so "dirt-like" that I thought they were perfect for Halloween!

Gather

2 C cacao nibs
1 1/4 t pink sea salt
3/4 C almond butter
3 T coconut oil (i love garden of life brand)
1 T liquid vanilla
2 scoops raw vanilla whey protein (omit if vegan)
1 t peppermint extract (optional)
1/2 t cayenne pepper (optional)

Do this

1. Finely grind the cacao nibs in a dry blender.
2. Mix all ingredients by hand in a bowl until mixture is consistent. Should be super dry, barely able to stick together,  "dirt"-like.
3. Scoop out small amounts with a spoon and place into mini muffin paper liners. Pack down with fingers or back of spoon.
4. Share your "dirty" pics on IG and FB so we can see... tag the Philosophie team!

{Leo got two little bites + LOVED it!}

Storage

These babies will keep for at least 2 weeks! Make a bunch and treat yourself throughout the day instead of having coffee. These are PACKED full of superfoods, nutrients, energy + protein!
{Kai had two as an after-school snack!}
