Superfood Toast Tuesday: Flag Toast!
For the past couple of weeks, I’ve been trying to come up with a playful, patriotic recipe that would be easy to recreate with Kai + Leo. These two are my favorite little sous chefs, and they usually love putting the finishing touches on my smoothies and puddings.
With the 4th of July right around the corner, I’ve noticed that all of our local markets are overstocked with berries- so naturally, I’ve been buying them by the cartful. But instead of throwing them in the blender like I usually do, I thought it would be super fun to arrange them like the stripes on our flag… and figured that individual toasts would be the perfect canvas!
My trial run seriously turned out so much better, and cuter, than I expected. I used a few slices of gluten free toast, mixed a delicious dairy-free cheese with some Berry Bee Honey, and placed the fresh berries right on top. Literally, 5 MINUTES. That’s it!
These toast turned out super yummy, and I can’t wait to make them again with my boys by my side. I think it’s so important to spend creative time together, and the kitchen is one of my absolute favorite places to do it!
Gather This:
- slice(s) of your of favorite bread
- vegan cream cheese (I love using Kite Hill)
- 1 tablespoon Berry Bee Honey
- blueberries
- strawberries
Do This:
1. Toast up your favorite bread. Mix 3-4 tablespoons of the cheese with the honey, and spread on top. Arrange your berries, give yourself a salute, and devour!
