Homemade MYLK Recipe

Happy spring, loves! While it’s been a couple of cloudy, rainy days in LA I’m still getting a buzz from the potent magic of the season. As I prepare for our new arrival I’ve been spring cleaning all around our home and taking the opportunity to get a little crazy in the kitchen.

I’m constantly asked about the milks and bases I use in all my smoothies and lattes. You honestly can’t beat homemade mylk. Most homemade mylks require a lot of straining, but there’s none of that here! Homemade nut and seed mylks are so appealing and beyond delicious but can be demanding when you have to soak, strain, dry, AND run it through the strainer or nut mylk bags several times.

This is great for children and women on-the-go because it's loaded with healthy bioavailable protein. I love making these during pregnancy to help flood my body with protein and nutrients for me and baby girl.


Cashew Mylk:

This cashew mylk is SO creamy and delicious. It makes you question ever purchasing packaged dairy free milk ever again!


Gather this

1 C cashews (high in magnesium, iron, protein)

Filtered water

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 T Green Dream Superfood + Protein Blend or Berry Blee Honey (for flavor + superfood magic)


Do this

Soak cashews for 12 hours in filtered water (make sure they’re covered). 


After 12 hours, rinse & dry (place in fridge if you don’t want to make mylk right away). Can be used for “cheese”. Make sure to discard the filtered water you used to soak the cashews in.


When ready, rinse cashews and put in blender with 3 cups filtered water. Blend for 2-3 min. until completely blended. At this point it’s READY! If you want to add more flavor, I like to add 1 tsp vanilla extract, 1 T Green Dream Superfood + Protein Blend or Berry Bee Honey and a few pinches of pink sea salt. You’re done!


Here are other options for easy mylks:

Almond mylk

Macadamia mylk

Hemp seed mylk

Sunflower seed mylk

Pumpkin seed mylk


The only difference between seed mylks and the cashew is that you can soak them for far less time.

Pumpkin seeds: 8 hours

Sunflower seeds: 8 hours

Hemp seeds: no required soaking

NOTE: All of these mylks will last up to 4 days in an air tight container

Is the Dream Green safe to consume during pregnancy? I’m 27 weeks and wanting to be sure that all of the superfoods included won’t pass any harm. Can you advise? Thanks!

To answer your questions, almond mylk will last for 4 days in an air tight container.

And yes, discard the filtered water you soak the cashews in.

Chocolate Cherry Oats

Gather This:

1 cup frozen cauliflower rice

½ cup quick oats

1 cup water + more splashes as needed

2 tbsp ground seeds

1 tsp maca

2 tbsp Cacao Magic Superfood Blend

TOPPINGS - 

Cherries

Almond Butter

Cherry and chocolate grain -free granolas


Do This:

Bring oats, cauliflower and water to a boil.

Reduce heat and stir in seeds, maca and protein. Add more liquid as needed.

Transfer to a bowl and top!

Refreshing Chlorophyll Lemonade

It’s summer and that means it’s lemonade season! This better-for-you lemonade is made with fresh lemon, a touch of raw honey or maple syrup for sweetness, and liquid chlorophyll.


Chlorophyll cleanses your system, boosts your energy, and hydrates and by adding fresh lemon juice with some mint you’re making a drink that tastes great and totally hydrates and boosts your body.


Our Sunshine Drops help to eliminate harmful bacteria from the body, hydrates the skin, boosts your energy and ignites your senses!


Share this recipe with someone you want to drink it with! 

Sunshine Drops

Gather This:

Juice of 1 lemon

1 tsp raw honey or maple syrup

1-2 droppers of Sunshine Drops

8-12 oz water

Ice


Do This:

Mix the juice of 1 lemon, raw honey or maple syrup and Sunshine Drops in your favorite glass. Add ice and 8-12 oz of water. Stir, sip and enjoy!

Summer of sunshine! We’re embracing our inner child and spending our summer afternoons roller skating (or rather, attempting to roller skate) and sipping on all the superfood smoothies we could ever want! 


Pineapple is great for digestion because of the natural enzymes, our Berry Bliss superfood blend is high in vitamin C and antioxidants, and the mint lightens the smoothie up making it uber refreshing! 


You can’t go wrong with this energy-boosting, refreshing summertime smoothie!

Berry Pineapple Smoothie

Gather This:

8 oz coconut water or water 

½ cup strawberries

1 tbsp coconut oil

½ cup pineapple (frozen or fresh)

A few sprigs of fresh mint

1 frozen banana

1 tbsp Berry Bliss


Do This:

Add all ingredients to a high-powered blender and blend well until smooth and creamy. Pour into a beautiful glass, and enjoy with your favorite toppings!

California is back open and we’re preparing for a summer of celebration, reunion and adventure! The best thing you can do for your mental and physical health as you gently ease back into the world again is load up your body with nourishing nutrient-dense foods and superfoods
