For this Toast Tuesday, we decided to be a bit more adventurous. Food experiments are a great way to get your creative juices flowing and explore your senses. Taste, touch, smell and sight are all utilized in the kitchen. I absolutely LOVE trying new food combinations, especially when it comes out deceptively simple to make.
So, we threw out the toast today! Instead, we took a sweet potato, topped it with some berries, hemp hearts, hummus and finished with Philosophie Bee Honey.
Sweet potatoes appear in many of our favorite Fall dishes. Candied yams, anyone?! These heart-shaped, high fiber potatoes promote healthy digestion and are rich in beta-carotene, which is known to boost your immune system. Paired with hemp hearts for a mild nutty taste and an extra boost of fiber for gut health; your body can’t be stopped!
Balanced by the sweetness of some berries and superfood honey is honestly such a kick-ass way to start your day. Or if you’re feelin’ something a little extra for your mid-afternoon snack, these sweet potato strawberry toasts are just the answer.
1 Sweet Potato, roasted
2 organic Strawberries
Handful of Blueberries
1 Tbsp Hemp Hearts
2 Tbsp plain Hummus+2 Tbsp Beet Hummus
Slice and roast Sweet Potato, add a dollop of plain Hummus on one side, and a dollop of Beet Hummus on the other. Top with one Blueberry, 1 sliced Strawberry, and a sprinkling of hemp hearts. Drizzle with Philosophie Bee Honey (any one of our three flavors will add a nice touch, but drizzle some Berry Bee Honey for added sweetness).
