Heart of the Week: Bentgo Salad Box

Not only is this ultra portable, BPA-free Bentgo Salad Box super easy to wash + store, it's also perfect for cutting down on unnecessary single-use plastic baggies and does Mother Nature a favor!

The cute stackable compartments can hold 3+ toppings, along with a leak-proof sauce container so you can toss up your salad right when you’re ready to eat it (and avoid a sad, soggy salad!).

These are great for kiddie lunches or your own! I mixed up this Strawberry Avocado Power Salad and LOVED how fresh the Bentgo kept all of the ingredients!

Roasted Eggplant Recipe

Simple summer recipes can be challenging when you have more mouths to feed and maybe you’re away on vacation or at a family’s home. I turn to recipes that can be made for a group or you and the hubby. What’s more important is that has whole, natural ingredients for all the nourishment your body craves.

This Roasted Eggplant dish is so satisfying and such a perfect dish after a day spent by the pool or out and about.  Eggplant is high in antioxidants, vitamins, fiber, and low in calories making it a great weight-loss veggie.

Gather This:

1 Organic Eggplant

A handful of cherry tomatoes

Organic Basil

1 clove of garlic

1 tsp Green Dream Superfood + Protein Blend

Do This:

Slice eggplant lengthwise, drizzle with EVOO, salt+pep and roast in the oven on 400, for 45 minutes. About half way through, slice the tomatoes and place them spread out on top of the eggplant, to roast as well for the remainder of the 45 minutes. Chop up the garlic and thinly slice the basil, sprinkle garlic, basil and 1 tsp green dream superfood powder on top of the eggplant. Eat as is or enjoy with some yummy mixed greens or brown rice!

Heart of the Week: Saje Body Products

Soaking up all the love and emotion in these first few weeks with a newborn. So much has changed in our household. My body included. As I’m recovering from pregnancy to birth to back to myself again I’m relying on natural, organic products to heal my skin and nourish me from the outside in.

You all know how obsessed I’ve been with Saje and they recently launched their mama + baby line so now I’m even more in love. These products are exactly what I need and look for when I turn to beauty products. I feel safe slathering these over my skin and on baby Noa. Their products are made with 100% natural ingredients, eco-friendly and contain no toxins or synthetics.

Here’s a highlight of my favorite products from their mama + baby line.

Sweet Cheeks (Daily Diaper Rash Ointment) - This stuff is pure magic. It’s soothing on sensitive skin and is made with shea butter and beeswax. All natural!

Mini Mender (Baby Salve) - Her skin is already so soft and new, so rubbing on safe, natural ingredients like this baby lotion makes me feel great as a mama. I know I’m giving her all she needs.

Chest Mate (Soothing Nipple Cream) - Pregnancy and birth are no joke. It’s so beautiful how our bodies transform, but there’s a lot of wear and tear, to say the least. Natural products like this cream support my body and give me the healing I need in order to provide for my baby girl. Put a pea size amount on sore nipples after feeding- safe to use so you can breastfeed right away!

Vitamin Ease (Stretch Mark Minimizing Cream) - This product feels so good on my skin, especially over my stretch marks and scars. It’s made with aloe, coconut oil and Vitamin E so it’s really the best medicine for your skin.

Crystals 101

If you’re new to the crystal world, it’s easy to get overwhelmed. There’s all different colors of crystals, large and small, crystal spheres, hearts, crystals for charging other crystals—with all these choices, it’s hard to know where to start. That’s why we’re boiling it down with this easy article on crystals for beginners.

The first and most important lesson you’ll learn from your work with crystals, is to trust yourself. Trust that you know which crystal is right for your spirit, and trust your connection with it. Don’t get caught up in searching for answers outside. The answer to what you want and need comes from within.

How to Cleanse Your Crystals

We can’t talk about the basics of crystals for beginners, without stressing the importance of crystal cleansing. If you never cleanse your crystals, eventually their energy becomes overloaded and dim. Here are some easy methods for crystal cleansing:

Sage or Palo Santo Smoke — We sell Palo Santo on our website, so head over there to get your cleansing sticks. To purify the energy of the crystal, simply immerse it in the smoke of sage or palo santo. Perform crystal cleansing on a regular basis, or whenever your crystal begins to feel like it’s not vibrating with the same energy as it once was.

Sun or Moon Light — You can also do crystal cleansing by leaving your crystal out in the light of the sun or moon for at least 4 hours. Full Moon is the best time to cleanse crystals as it's the end of a cycle and the moon’s light and power is incredibly potent.

Soil of the Earth — Bury your stones in the soil of the earth, or even the soil of a potted plant for up to 24 hours. Don’t forget to leave a marker so that you can remember where you placed it!

Quartz or Selenite Crystal — Quartz and selenite are two of the best crystals for beginners because they are both cleansing crystals. Cleansing crystals are high-vibing purifiers that don’t need to be charged. Because their energy remains clear and amplified, you can use them charge and cleanse your other crystals. Place a stone on your cleansing crystal to purify and enhance its energy.

Sea Water —  Take your crystals to the ocean and cleanse them in the ocean. This can be such a beautiful ritual!

A great place to start with your crystal rituals can be with our Magic Moon Satchels. It comes with a crystal (sometimes two depending on the month) and palo santo with an intention card and other magical items. What's inside the bag changes each month so you're constantly exposed to new spiritual items.

Choosing Your Crystal Shape

You may be wondering if the shape of your crystal matters. While the healing properties of your crystal will remain the same regardless of shape, the experience you have with your crystal may differ. Following are some of the most common crystal shapes you’ll find, and how to work with them:

A crystal point is an intense energy tool that serves to focus and amplify the power of the stone. You can use it to direct healing energy inward, by turning the point toward you, or outward, by turning it away. Many people use their points to manifest intentions, because a standing point will continue to radiate the energy of your intention out into the universe even after you leave it. Points are some of the best crystals for beginners because of their versatility.

A crystal sphere emits energy equally out in every direction. It provides a gentle, full energy that you can feel both grounded by and immersed in. Holding two spheres in meditation brings a sense of harmony to your practice.

A crystal cube is associated with the root chakra. This makes it a powerfully grounding stone to create calm in your environment. You can establish a protective grid by placing a crystal cube in each of the four corners of your room—don’t worry, we’ll go more into what grids are in a bit.

Pyramids are a sacred shape that were used in many ancient civilizations. Use a crystal pyramid to beam concentrated energy up into the universe. Use it to help manifest your intentions by writing them down on a piece of paper, and setting the crystal pyramid on top.

This loving crystal shape is great for reminding you to keep it’s healing properties close at heart. Work with them to nourish your spirit with the energy that you want to give and receive.

Crystal harmonizers are a pair of cylinder shaped crystals that aid your meditation practice by bringing you into spiritual, mental and physical balance.

Crystal clusters are one of the most beautiful occurrences in nature. A cluster happens when many points form on the same matrix. Because a cluster has so many points, it is believed to vibrate a higher energy. Having a cluster in your home or space will ensure that it remains elevated with the energy you want to cultivate.

Tumbled Stones

Tumbled stones are great because of their wide range of uses. As small, smooth stones, they can easily be held in your pocket or purse. You can also use them to create your own crystal grids. If you’re new to this, and you’re trying to decide which crystals work best for you, tumbled stones are some of the best crystals for beginners.

How to Set Intentions with Crystals

Setting intentions with crystals sounds like an intense practice, but it’s actually very easy. It’s all about getting in touch with your true spiritual needs, and connecting to that newfound dedication to yourself. When you invest time into setting intentions with crystals, you’re really investing in your future.

Crystal intention setting begins when you find a quiet area to sit and reflect. Then hold your crystal in your hand to get in sync with its energy. Visualize your intention. When you feel ready, say intention your intention out loud three times. Repeat your crystal intention setting as often as needed to keep your energy focused on your goals. Place the crystal on your sacred altar, or somewhere that it can be easily viewed as a reminder of what you’re working towards.

Berry Bliss Popsicles Recipe

It’s warming up here in LA and we’re getting ready for all the BBQs + pool parties galore. The boys and I love making these popsicles together. They help keep us cool, especially on those hot summer days.

It’s so EASY to make your own popsicles at home and you can make it a fun family activity. We used popsicles molds we found on Amazon and Mott's Sensibles as a base. My favorite thing about this summer treat is that I can sneak in Philosophie superfoods and nutrients so I trust them way more than the ones found in the freezer section. Plus, the kids love them so much more because they get to play a part in making them and they just taste better. Trust me.

Be sure to bring these to your 4th of July celebrations! They’ll be a hit.

Gather This:

1 cup Mott's Sensibles juice

1 tsp Berry Bliss Superfood + Protein Blend

1 tsp liquid chlorophyll

Organic berries and Green Bee Honey (for sweetness)

Do This:

Blend the juice and superfoods together. Pour mixture into popsicle molds and freeze. Serve on a platter for your next pool patter and finish with a drizzle of Green Bee Honey + a handful of your favorite berries. ENJOY!
